There are several components to a mattress. The ticking is the outer most layer and is typically made with a cotton-polyester blend. Quilting and top padding are located underneath the ticking and are typically made with foam or batting to provide uniform softness. The middle padding spreads weight over a wider surface to enhance comfort. Insulated padding in a mattress is found atop the springs so that you do not feel them while resting peacefully. The extra support is found along the edges of the mattress and is made with extra dense foam to add even more support to the mattress. The coils help to evenly distribute the impact of weight on your mattress. Lastly, the box spring is meant to provide extra comfort and softness. It is more effective when purchased with the mattress as they’re designed to work together. |
